Only through the generosity of our alumni and friends are we able to continue educating the communication professionals of today and tomorrow. The national reputation of the Mayborn School is stellar, and the school is poised to be the first-choice destination journalism and mass communication school in the state of Texas. But, we can only do so with your help. The Mayborn School of Journalism at UNT is funded partially by the State of Texas, the rest comes from you. As we continue our vision of educating and training the next generation of communication professionals, we invite you to think about contributing in the following ways.

Ways to Give

Freshman/Transfer Scholarships

With the help of a gracious donor, we have raised $75,000 for a new scholarship that will serve incoming freshmen and transfer students. We are looking for matching funds of $75,000 to fund this endeavor. The Mayborn School currently has few scholarships for incoming freshmen and transfer students. This creates a hole in our ability to recruit fantastic students out of high school and community colleges. This scholarship could be the difference between coming to the Mayborn or going somewhere else. Please help us support those students who know they want to be a part of the Mayborn, but may be limited financially.

Internship & Professional Growth Fund

This fund is for students who register for an internship, but are unable to pursue it due to financial obstacles. The internship may be unpaid or in another city, therefore making the internship cost prohibitive. This fund, which we hope to grow, will allow a committee of faculty and staff to award money to students to help offset any losses. The school recognizes the value of practical experience and wants all students to be able to.

Practical Research Professorships
The professors who teach in advertising, journalism and public relations in the Mayborn have decades of practical, industry experience as well as the research chops. The only way our industries get better is through research dedicated to helping forward ethical communication. UNT is proud to be part of the elite Carnegie Tier 1 of universities in terms of research. A contribution to this fund would allow for faculty to conduct research that not only forwards the critical thinking in the area, but has a practical application - a tangible application to make the journalism and strategic communication industries better and more effective. How would you like to see your industry improve? Let us help you answer that question with a gift that could help change the industry.
Dean's Excellence Fund
The Dean's Excellence Fund allows the school to respond quickly to areas of greatest need. While always keeping the mission of the school in mind, this fund can be used in such varied ways as student travel, scholarships, equipment, and business and alumni outreach. A gift here also allows us to capitalize on teaching or research "moments" that would not only continue to grow our reputation and service to the industries, but more importantly, help support our students.
