Neil Foote is a senior lecturer at the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas. He helped launch North Texas News Net, a regional news site featuring student reported, written and produced content. He teaches convergence journalism and multimedia journalism classes.

Experience:
He is a nationally recognized professional who has nearly 30 years of media experience. Foote has worked at several major media outlets, including The Miami Herald, The Washington Post, The Dallas Morning News and the Belo Corporation.
He currently is the president of Foote Communications LLC, a public relations, web consulting and multicultural marketing firm whose clients include the Tom Joyner Foundation, REACHMedia Inc. and Girlfriends Healthguide for Women of Color with whom he is publisher of its Dallas edition.
In the North Texas community, Foote serves on the boards of The Lamplighter School, and the National Kidney Foundation. He also served six years on the board of the ChildCareGroup, one of the region’s largest non-profits.
On the industry level, Foote is chairman of the National Association for Multicultural Media Executives. He is a current member and former board member of the National Association of Black Journalists. He has served on the Newspaper Association of America’s New Media Federation Board.
Outside of the journalism world, he gave a solo piano concert while studying abroad in Spain during his senior year of college. He still plays piano in his spare time. He also composes his own music and plays tennis.
