George Foster

George Foster is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Foster Marketing, the world’s largest oil and gas marketing communications firm. Founded in 1980, the firm has offices in Houston and Lafayette, La., in the US; London in the UK; and clients all over the world.

Foster is a Certified Business Communicator (CBC) and splits his time among the firm’s offices, personally consulting, advising and encouraging clients — and employees.

He has served on the boards of the Acadiana Advertising Federation (AAF) and the Houston Business Marketing Association (BMA). In 2004, he was the recipient of AAF’s prestigious Silver Medal Award for excellence in the field of advertising; and in 2009 was presented with the BMA Lifetime Achievement Award for his 30 years of contributions to the marketing communications industry.

He is an active member in the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA), the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE).

Following graduation from North Texas State University in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in journalism, Foster began a short stint as a sportswriter at the Waco Tribune-Herald. Later that year, he was named Sports Information Director at East Texas State (now Texas A&M - Commerce). In 1974, Foster was named Assistant Sports Information Director at Texas Tech.

In 1976, he was hired as Sports Information Director at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana-Lafayette) and oversaw the promotion of a successful overall athletic program before opening Foster Marketing in 1980.

Foster funds the Foster Marketing Endowed Journalism Scholarship at UNT and is on the Mayborn School of Journalism Board of Advisors.
