Dr. James L. Rogers Public Relations Scholarship
Jim Rogers joined the UNT faculty in 1953 as a journalism professor and news service director. Rogers received emeritus status when he retired in 1996. He wrote The Story of North Texas, the most comprehensive history of the university. He also served in World War II.
- Applicants must be strategic communications or public relations majors with at least 60 semester hours and a minimum 3.2 GPA.
- Applicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at the Mayborn School of Journalism at UNT with a major status in the Strategic Communications with an emphasis in public relations and a demonstrated interest in public affairs, issues management, corporate communications or crisis communications.
- Applicants must submit a 500–1,000 word essay (double-spaced) about their interest in public affairs, issues management, corporate communications or crisis communications. The essay must concisely state the reasons for this career choice and what preparation and skills the student feels are necessary for success in their chosen branch of public relations.
- Applicants must meet minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the Mayborn School of Journalism.
