A note from the Mayborn Board of Advisors:

As part of the Celebration of 75 Years of Journalism at UNT, the Mayborn Board Education Committee bolstered Mayborn Mentor events. The Education Committee was founded to help make the Mayborn School of Journalism the go-to Journalism school in the state of Texas.

Through maintaining a tight connection with local and regional industry professionals and alumni, the Mayborn Mentor events provide students a pipeline from college to the workforce. These speakers and panels are meant to be interactive, career-focused opportunities that connect current students directly to successful Alumni and corporations in the field.

One of the great benefits of being a student at the Mayborn School is ready access to highly seasoned professionals working in virtually all areas of journalism and mass communication - most of whom are our very own alumni.

We schedule regular events featuring panels of mentors who share their lessons and experiences, and then meet informally with students to form valuable mentor networks.

How to become a Mayborn Mentor:

You can become a mentor in one of two ways:

  1. Join the virtual Mayborn Mentor community at https://meangreenmentors.unt.edu/. Once you are signed up and have completed your profile (don't forget to mention Journalism within your profile so Mayborn students can easily find you), join our Mayborn Mentor Group from the GROUPS heading.
  2. Or volunteer to become a speaker or panelist at one of our upcoming Mayborn Mentor events by filling out the form below so we can get to know you a little better and find the best fit for your expertise.
