Welcome to the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas. The Mayborn School educates the next generation of ethical communicators in digital/broadcast journalism, digital/print journalism, advertising, public relations and photojournalism. We develop storytellers, leaders and entrepreneurs using transferrable skills that prepare our student body for the communication and media jobs of today and the exciting times ahead.

Bold ideas demand good communication. Someone may have the greatest idea or story in the world, but if they cannot communicate effectively, no one will pay attention. Every business, nonprofit, corporation and average citizen need someone telling their stories. At the Mayborn, we like to say "Your story starts here." We create those stories across all platforms and industries because never has what we do - accurate and ethical communication - been more important.

Our talented and caring faculty have decades of professional experience and vast industry networks. We value student success and create a positive, small-classroom environment to learn and grow that helps usher students all the way through from admission to graduation. Our student-run media and agencies give students the ability to take what's learned in the classroom and put it in to practice - with real-world clients and real-world subjects.

The Mayborn School is uniquely positioned in the fifth largest media market in the nation, making it the perfect choice to pursue an education in mass communication. We leverage this advantage to develop strong partnerships with numerous media organizations, agencies and corporations to benefit our students. Opportunities and networks abound!

We are one of only 17 NBCU Academy universities, and the home of the Scripps Howard Foundation Emerging Journalists program. We have created internship pipelines to businesses across North Texas and beyond. We also have alumni who serve as professional mentors for our students.

Students are our mission, and the school provides almost $350,000 a year in academic scholarships. This is a staggering number of awards that helps lessen financial worries so students can focus on their classes and experiences.
